Server Rules
Community Guidelines
These rules apply to all Domaincord channels, threads, and affiliated spaces. By participating you agree to abide by them.
Last updated:
Preamble
Domaincord exists to give domain investors a fast, open, and trustworthy place to connect, trade, and learn. These guidelines are the minimum required to keep that environment intact.
Rules are intentionally specific so that moderators can cite them precisely and members can understand exactly what is and isn't permitted. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.
The moderation team has discretion to act on behavior that is harmful to the community even if it is not explicitly named below.
General Conduct
Respectful Interaction
All members must treat one another with basic respect regardless of experience level, portfolio size, nationality, or background. Condescension, deliberate humiliation, or sustained hostility toward another member is not permitted.
Off-Topic Discussions
Politics, religion, and other highly divisive social topics are off-topic and must not be discussed in any server channel. Use the appropriate channels for all other off-topic conversation. Messages posted in the wrong channel may be deleted or moved without notice.
No Trolling or Baiting
Trolling, deliberately baiting other members into conflict, spamming, and sustained negativity are prohibited. This includes posting low-effort provocations, repeated off-topic interruptions, or messages intended to derail legitimate discussion.
Dispute Resolution
Do not air disputes with other members or moderators in public channels. Grievances should be raised privately with a moderator via DM or through the designated support channel. Public call-outs, vague-posting about conflicts, or attempts to rally other members against an individual are not permitted.
Language
English is the primary language of the server. Where non-English channels are available, members are welcome to use them. Using non-English in channels where English is expected in order to circumvent moderation is a violation of these guidelines.
Content & Language
Hateful Language
Derogatory, ableist, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise hateful language is strictly prohibited in all channels, threads, and voice chats. This applies equally to language used about individuals, groups, or in the names and descriptions of domain names posted for sale in the marketplace.
NSFW Content
Explicit, graphic, sexually suggestive, or otherwise NSFW content is prohibited in all channels. This includes images, links, profile avatars, usernames, and nicknames. Adult domain names may only be listed in designated marketplace channels where they exist and must be labeled clearly.
Illegal Activity
Do not post content that promotes, facilitates, or glorifies illegal activity. In the domain industry context, this includes but is not limited to: cybersquatting, bad-faith registration of trademarked terms, typosquatting schemes, or listing domains that are the subject of active UDRP proceedings without clear disclosure.
Impersonation
Impersonating another member, public figure, brand, registrar, broker, or company in any way — including through username, avatar, or nickname — is prohibited. This includes names that are deceptively similar to known community members or industry entities.
Misinformation & Market Manipulation
Deliberately spreading false or misleading information — including fabricated sale reports, inflated appraisals, or false claims about domain ownership or market activity — with the intent to deceive or manipulate other members is prohibited.
Commercial Activity
Promotion of Paid Products & Services
Sharing links to or promoting paid third-party products or services requires explicit prior approval from a server admin. Free tools, resources, or articles relevant to domain names may be shared without approval, provided they are genuinely useful to the community and not primarily promotional in nature.
Genuine Listings Only
All domain listings posted in the marketplace must be genuine offers from the verified owner. Listing domains you do not own, do not have the right to sell, or have no genuine intention of selling is prohibited. Listings with clearly false or misleading asking prices intended to waste buyers' time are also prohibited.
Price Manipulation & Shill Bidding
Price manipulation, shill bidding (using alternate accounts or coordinated accounts to artificially inflate a bid), and collusion with other members to artificially inflate or suppress domain valuations are strictly prohibited. Violations may be reported to relevant auction platforms in addition to server enforcement.
Solicitation Channels
Buying, selling, and trading activity must take place in the designated marketplace channels. Unsolicited DMs to members for commercial purposes, or commercial solicitation in general discussion channels, are prohibited unless the other member has clearly expressed interest first.
Transaction Disclaimer
Domaincord does not mediate, guarantee, or take responsibility for transactions between members. All members transact at their own risk. The use of reputable escrow services (such as Escrow.com) is strongly recommended for any significant transaction. Reporting a scam within the server does not substitute for filing a formal complaint with the appropriate platforms or authorities.
Referral & Affiliate Links
Referral links and affiliate links require admin approval before posting. Unapproved affiliate links will be removed without notice. Repeated posting of unapproved affiliate links will be treated as spam and may result in a warning or ban.
Privacy & Safety
No Doxxing
Sharing another member's personal information without their explicit consent is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to: full name, home or work address, phone number, email address, social media accounts, financial information, or employment details. Violations will result in an immediate ban.
Private Communications
Do not share screenshots, quotes, or summaries of private messages (DMs) from another member in public channels without that member's explicit consent. This applies regardless of the content or context of those messages.
Malicious Links & Phishing
Posting phishing links, malware, IP grabbers, or any content designed to compromise the security, accounts, or devices of other members is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate permanent ban. This includes links disguised as legitimate tools, registrar login pages, or domain appraisal services.
Threats
Threats of any kind directed at any member — including physical threats, legal threats, financial threats, or threats to expose personal information — are prohibited and will result in an immediate ban. Serious threats may be reported to Discord Trust & Safety and, where warranted, relevant law enforcement.
Accounts & Identity
One Account Per Member
Each member may operate only one active Discord account in the server. The use of alternate accounts (alts) without prior approval from an admin is prohibited. Alts discovered will be banned, and the primary account may be penalized depending on why the alt was used.
Username & Profile Standards
Usernames, nicknames, and profile images must not impersonate another member, brand, registrar, or public figure; contain hateful or NSFW content; or be designed to be difficult for moderators to reference (e.g., invisible characters, excessive symbols). Moderators may require members to change non-compliant usernames.
Ban Evasion
Members who have been banned from the server may not re-enter under any alternate account. Confirmed ban evasion will result in a permanent ban of all associated accounts, and may be reported to Discord for platform-level action.
Moderation & Enforcement
Moderator Authority
Moderators have final authority within the server. Their instructions must be followed promptly. Decisions may be appealed by contacting a senior moderator or admin via DM — appeals must be made calmly and in good faith. Appeals made publicly or aggressively will not be considered.
Moderator Conduct
Arguing with, insulting, or publicly undermining moderators is prohibited. If you believe a moderator has acted unfairly or abused their role, report it privately to an admin with specifics. Moderators are also held to these guidelines and are subject to removal for misconduct.
Enforcement Levels
Rule violations may result in any of the following depending on severity and history: a verbal warning, a formal written warning, a temporary timeout or mute, a temporary ban, or a permanent ban. Certain violations (§ 4.1, § 4.3, § 4.4, § 5.3) carry an immediate permanent ban without prior warning. Moderators have discretion to escalate any penalty if circumstances warrant.
Moderator Discretion
These guidelines do not cover every possible scenario. Moderators may act on behavior they determine to be harmful, disruptive, or contrary to the spirit of the community even if it is not explicitly addressed above. The absence of a specific rule is not permission to engage in harmful behavior.
Amendments
Domaincord reserves the right to amend these guidelines at any time. Material changes will be announced in the server. The current version of the guidelines is always published at domaincord.com/community-guidelines. Continued participation following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised rules.
